The Yarralumla School Garden is a project of the Parents and Community members of Yarralumla Primary School. The project was conceived in 2008 and revitalised in 2010. In consultation with interested parents Daniel Harris-Pascal a local permaculture designer developed a garden design incorporating existing infrastructure and plants. The design includes an outdoor classroom and blackboard, a potting area and soil pens/compost, raised beds for veggie gardens, chook coop and run, worm farm, swales, food forests and native species as support plants.
With community assistance the bulk of the design was implemented in May of 2010. In August we will be implementing the remainder of the garden design and preparing for spring.
If you are interested in helping in the garden or donating to the project please email yarralumlaschoolgarden [at] gmail.com or pop into the school.
